Country Friends Dance Club was started in February 1992. The first planning meeting was held at Cocktails & Co. It included Chuck and Diane Fitzgerald, Curt and Sandy Ludovissy, Jim and Karen Lyons, and Ron and Candy Heeren and Bonnie Streif.  Two additional meetings were held at the Fitzgerald home which included Steve & Marlene LeMont, Al & Madonna Walkner, Sharon Thuerafu and Bruce Griebel. Steve and Marlene LeMont were part of the founding of the club. The Country Friends Dance Club name was chosen, the first set of officers were voted in, and the original bylaws were written. The first official club dance session was held at Ponderosa Ballroom on February 27, 1992 with 38 attendees.  Later they moved to the American Legion in Fairfax, then settled in at the Moose Lodge in Cedar Rapids and most recently  to the Elks Lodge in 2016.  CFDC currently has over 50 members.
